To the Citizens of Merrimack County,

There are many important elections happening this fall, both in the Primary on September 8th and the General Election on November 3rd. One such important race is that of the Sheriff of Merrimack County, not one that people probably pay that much attention to or do a lot of research on but one that should not be overlooked for a couple of reasons. 1. The men and women of the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office deserve good leadership and 2. The citizens of Merrimack County deserve a Sheriff, the Senior Law Enforcement Official in the County, deserve someone that will provide outstanding services to them all.

I can think of no better person for that position than Chief James Valiquet. I have known him for 20 years. He hired me when I started my Law Enforcement career in 2000, he is a fair and equitable leader who puts the welfare of his employees and the citizens he serves above his own. Over that past 20 years that I have known him he has helped me navigate some difficult times both personally and professionally even when I was not working for him.

His credentials speak for themselves as you can see on his website at I think the thing that sets him apart from those who he will face in the Primary Election is that after over 40 years in Public Service he continues to develop himself both professionally and personally and extends his influence beyond the borders of the town for which he works.

As a former Officer for the Town of Newbury, current Officer for the Town of Bradford, both under the direction of Chief Valiquet and former Deputy Sheriff for the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office under that past two elected Sheriffs I believe he is the best candidate for the job and will bring great credit to the position of Sheriff of Merrimack County.
